Advancing surgical outcomes and quality of life

Hello
Dr. Frissiano Honwana is a biostatistician specialising in predictive modelling, biomarker research, and advanced statistical methods to improve healthcare outcomes. His research integrates biostatistics, biomarker science, and precision medicine to improve disease prediction, diagnostic and prognostic accuracy, and clinical decision-making, with the broader aim of advancing personalised patient care.
He collaborates across diverse areas of health research, including cardiovascular and renal health, infectious diseases (particularly HIV), perioperative medicine, assisted reproductive technology, child health, and human genetics. His expanding research collaborations in nephrology and human genetics complement my broader interests in cardiorenal health, genetic epidemiology, biomarkers, and precision medicine. His work ranges from providing statistical and methodological support for investigator-led studies to contributing to interdisciplinary teams undertaking larger-scale clinical and translational research. He teaches in the Master of Public Health (MPH) and MSc in Epidemiology and Biostatistics programmes and supervise Master's students within the Division of Epidemiology & Biostatistics at the University of Cape Town. He is also a member of the International Society for Clinical Biostatistics (ISCB) and the South African Statistical Association (SASA).
